The annual Healthcare Investments and Exits report found that health tech funding in Europe almost doubled from $1.36 billion (€1.2bn) in 2020 to $2.6 billion (€2.2bn) in 2021. Silicon Valley Bank (SBV) reported a nearly double increase in venture investments in Europe within the last two years, rising from $8.4 billion (€7.4bn) in 2020 to $13.9 billion (€12.2bn) in 2021.
With strong ambitions, favorable legislation, and an important budget, the European Union is aiming to reach a leading position by supporting and funding groundbreaking healthcare innovations ready to scale up.
During the e-pitching event, the following seven startups and innovators will present their innovative business cases.
Selfback – IT / Digital Health / Digital Therapeutics
App for low back pain self-management with clinical evidence through large scale international clinical trials. SelfBack is the world’s first app to use AI for the delivery of self-management plans for back pain patients. It was selected by NHS England for implementation of a new digital back pain pathway and supported by the Danish Innovation Fund – Revenue generating.

React4Life is a company producing organ-on-chips for recapitulating human biology in vitro, enabling safer and better therapies. React4life’s technology allows to overcome the limits of current methods for testing new drugs, ending animal testing through a highly predictive platform. Best Health Tech 2021 – Winner of 3 H2020 Project and 50 clients gained in one year among academia, CRO and Pharma.

A dagnostic tool for treatment and metastasis prediction that can be used for all cancer patients regardless of diagnosis as well by pharma companies to develop new treatments. CE marked product (IVD-D) and collaboration with Charles River laboratories. Winner of Swiss Biolab Challenge 2019 and listed as top 20 BioPharma Startups & Companies in Sweden 2022

Linkocare – MedTech / BioTech
LinkoCare is a patented technology platform for treating corneal blindness and low vision through 3D bio-printed bioengineered corneal implants. The implants are made from 100% natural bio-mimicking cornea. Currently, it is the only available treatment option with a short shelf life of 2 weeks, a long recovery of a minimum of 6 months and a 25% rejection rate. The bioimplants have superior properties such as transparency, reproducibility, customisability, longer shelf life (3 years), are 2x less expensive than donor corneas and require a minimally invasive, relatively inexpensive implantation procedure with faster recovery and 0% rejection rate. Winner of EIT-Health WildCard and EIC Accelerator (stage 1).

Biomodics produce sustainable and biomimicking materials, coatings, and drug delivery systems. It offer cutting-edge chemistries to improve materials with a focus on health and green transition. Biomodics’ spearhead product is a drug delivery device treating bladder diseases locally. It delivers solutions which improve standard care without adverse effects. Biomodics’ pipeline will make hospitals safe, improve quality –of life and reduce costs. Partner with several world leading MedTech organizations. Repeatedly winner of Techtour and other contests.
