• Polish startup Cellis is the winner of the Innovation Radar Prize 2024, with immunotherapy that breaks drug resistance in multiple aggressive cancers.
  • The startups Gelatex, Qilimanjaro, and AEinnova were also distinguished in different categories.
  • The event co-organized by the European Commission, Dealflow.eu, and The Europas brought together hundreds of entrepreneurs and investors in Lisbon

Lisbon, November 13, 2024 – Cellis’ MDC platform, a revolutionary cell-based immunotherapy that reprograms the tumor microenvironment, breaking down drug resistance in multiple aggressive cancers, was the big winner of the tenth edition of the Innovation Radar Prize. This initiative, co-organized by the European Commission and Dealflow.eu, which joined forces with The Europas for the first time, culminated in an event where high-potential innovations and entrepreneurs from research and innovation projects funded by the European Union (EU) were rewarded, exposing them to an influential community of European investors and policymakers.

The initiative also awarded prizes to the best and most innovative startups funded by the European Union (EU) in the categories of Sustainability, awarded to Spanish startup AEinnova, Health, awarded to Estonian startup Gelatex and, finally, the Next Generation category, awarded Spanish startup Qilimanjaro.

Thijs Povel, Managing Partner of Dealflow.eu, gives a positive assessment of the tenth edition of the Innovation Radar Prize: “It’s inspiring to see how the tenth edition of the Innovation Radar Prize brought together such a dynamic mix of innovators and investors. The level of companies pitching was exceptional, reflecting the significant efforts of the European Commission in supporting and financing Europe’s most promising startups. This event demonstrates that innovation across Europe continues to thrive and push boundaries. The jury panel, which included several distinguished U.S. investors, faced a challenging task in selecting the winners given the impressive quality of all the participants”.

The event, which preceded the start of another edition of the Web Summit, was co-organized by the European Commission, Dealflow.eu, and The Europas, in partnership with Eura AG, Dealroom.co, Startup Lisboa, European Startup Nations Alliance (ESNA), EU-Startups, and Unicorn Factory Lisboa, welcomed more than 200 participants, including startups and national and international investors.
